Our Organization...

The first volunteer fire company in the Borough of Port Vue was organized on July 18, 1908, with 26 charter members. The original members were: Arthur Davis, William Sinn, John Lickert, Fred Peterson, John Klotz, Joshua Campbell, Gustaf Gustafson, Joseph Sterns, George Weissert, Ernest McMichaels, John Shaffer, Charles Sinn, Josiah Pearson, William Weldon, Calvin Brown, Emil Kriesel, Robert Jackson, Fred Ulm, Philip Hilgert, Peter McGafferty, Samuel Wilkes, and Clifford Gustafson. Carl Gustafson was the very first Fire Chief, Leo Sterns served as Assistant Chief along with Arthur Gustafson as 2nd Lieutenant. Frank Esse devoted time as the Vice President.

One of the first equipment purchases consisted of a hand drawn hose reel, built in 1886 for the Sharpsburg Fire Company and purchased by Port Vue Borough in 1908 financed by a $200.00 bank loan. Now used only for parades, it was used to fight the $3,000,000 fire at the McKeesport Tin Plate Company on June 6th, 1921.

We currently have over 50 active volunteer members who routinely answer calls for assistance in the Borough and surrounding communities.
